About Me

I’m Wang Xin, a lawyer who specialises in Chinese nationality law

Licensed lawyer at Guangdong Tiansuo Law Firm and member of the Shenzhen Lawyers Association (the local bar association). Fluent in English and Mandarin.

From my first day in practice I have focused on legal matters that are cross-border, complex and contested. These cases usually involve conflicts between legal systems, knowledge from several disciplines, and coordination with police, prosecutors, courts, customs, foreign-exchange regulators, tax authorities and exit-entry administration. That is exactly what interests me and where I keep investing my study. I have handled more than 500 matters so far.

Why I became a lawyer

After law school I worked at a large law firm, on cross-border teams and in an independent practice, and saw a great many real legal predicaments — from ordinary families to entrepreneurs. I found that many clients are not short of legal awareness; what they lack is a lawyer who will patiently explain the law and can actually solve the problem.

So I decided to explain law in the plainest possible language, translating statutes into words ordinary people understand, and to treat every client’s case as my own — carefully, responsibly and with results.

How I work

  • Honest about risk: I don’t exaggerate the odds of winning. If I can take a case, I will; if not, I’ll tell you why.
  • Preparation first: bail in criminal cases, the evidence chain in civil cases, the mediation path in family cases — all depend on solid groundwork.
  • Documents and detail: a well-drafted contract or a well-argued bail application often decides the outcome.
  • Cross-disciplinary: cross-border family and inheritance matters require private international law, tax, foreign exchange and nationality/identity law together.

Public legal education

I publish legal-education videos on WeChat Channels, Douyin, Xiaohongshu (RED) and TikTok, all under the handle wang223040. Each video starts from a real case or a real question from viewers and explains one legal issue in a minute or two. New videos are released daily, and the accounts have more than 170,000 followers in total.

I also turn these topics into written articles for easy reference — for example, “Must a dual-national child choose one nationality at 18?”, “Holding 183 bitcoins and having funds frozen”, the case of the driver who killed a robber in self-defense, and whether a bride price can be recovered. They are case-driven, cite the law and are practical. Read them in English here.
